Public Invited to Open House to View Henderson’s Initial Vision and Comprehensive Plan

The City of Henderson has created a draft Vision Plan and the Henderson City/County Planning Commission is updating the Comprehensive Plan to help the betterment of the community economically, educationally, and so forth. These plans are being led by city/county staff members, a 29 person Visioning Steering Committee representing all facets of the community, and Taylor, Siefker, Williams Design Group, planning group based in Indianapolis and Louisville. However, the public’s voice and opinions have been crucial throughout the visioning development in order for any of Henderson’s future plans to come to fruition.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the January 26, 2015 Vision Henderson Open House at the Fine Arts Center, Henderson Community College (2660 S. Green Street, Henderson, Kentucky) to give their input on the initial Vision Plan and future development policies and actions. The Vision Plan was created by community citizens, leaders, and officials who attended public visioning sessions, focus groups, one on one interviews, online/ mailing surveys, presentation gatherings, etc.

Henderson’s Comprehensive Plan will be completed in the Spring of 2015, which will provide policy and direction for future growth and development within Henderson County. It will define the quantity, quality, and location of growth that the community desires and will include specific action steps need to implement both the Vision Plan and Comprehensive Plan.

The Vision Henderson Open House will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will last until 7:30 p.m. with a short overview presentation beginning at 6:00 p.m. During this time the public will be offered free food and refreshments, while viewing the Vision Plan and giving their input on the findings/ strategies thus far. Whether you stay for 2 hours or 20 minutes, your attendance and support will be much appreciated and will help Henderson County’s future for the next 10+ years.

“We are quickly moving towards the conclusion and final presentations of our Community Vision Plan. Literally thousands of our citizens have provided input and we’re anxious to share the results. The community’s attendance is requested and needed for the January 26th Vision Henderson Open House event on the stage of the Henderson Community College, as we focus on moving forward with core opportunities,” said Mayor Steve Austin.

The Vision Plan and Comprehensive Plan updates are anticipated to be completed by May of 2015. For more information or questions e-mail visionhenderson@gmail.com.
